It’s the second week of the new year, which is hard to believe! In some ways Christmas feels like a million years ago, and in other ways I can’t believe we are midway through January!
This week was more challenging to get my miles in. Work was pretty crazy, I had a meeting at 8:00 a.m. in uptown Charlotte every single day this week. Even when I get up to workout at 5:00 a.m., I find it difficult to fit in my usual six mile run, shower, get ready and be at my desk by 8. I really need to improve my speed in getting out the door in the morning. I wake up at 5, then get my workout clothes on, pack my gym bag with work outfit/shoes, pack my lunch, take my vitamins, make coffee, grab my purse/gym bag/computer, then leave. It is taking me a solid 30-45 minutes to get out the door. I know I should pack my gym bag and lunch the night before…I am just so tired at night! Anyone else have this problem?
So, this week, here is my mileage:
Monday: 7.4 miles
Tuesday: 6 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles + weights
Thursday: 6 miles
Friday: 10 miles
Saturday: 10 miles (wanted to do 13.1, but didn’t)
Sunday: 4.6 miles
Total: 47 miles
Typically I take a rest day every Sunday, but I didn’t this week because I ran short on Saturday and I wanted to make up the miles. I had set out to do 13.1, but I barely made it to 10. My legs were tired and my head just wasn’t in the game. It might be because on Friday, to get to 10 miles I ran 5 in the morning and 5 after work. It had been ~12 hours in between runs, which probably wasn’t enough time to recover. I ran six miles more this week than last and I’m still on track for 2018. (88 miles since Jan. 1)
Do you ever have days that you feel super tired on your runs and don’t feel you can make it? There are days I feel that I can run forever and days that even 1 mile feels hard. I hate it when that happens.
How are you doing with your running so far this year?
