2,018 miles in 2018: Week 8 Update
This week was a particularly interesting running week, as I ran less miles than last week (when I overtrained), but ended up with more miles overall because we went to the most magical place on earth, aka Walt Disney World, and I walked a ton in the parks. I was in Disney for the Princess Half Marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge (Half Marathon and 10K). I’ll write up a full review in a separate post.
This week I scaled back my runs because last week I was completely exhausted by the end of the week and my run on Saturday felt sluggish. I took a rest day on Sunday and then stuck with my “easy” pace and shorter distances for the remainder of the week, with the exception of Saturday, which was the half marathon.
All of my runs in Florida this week were a bit slow and sluggish. It was hot and humid and I think it affected my performance. The first day of vacation I ran 6.5 miles on the boardwalk (we stayed at Disney’s Beach Club Resort). The first 3 miles felt great, then I started to slow a bit. I ran the .8 mile loop around the boardwalk 8 times and I think some of the slowing also had to do with boredom. Beach Club does have a fitness center, Muscles and Bustles, and I used it twice during our trip, but I wanted to also use the runDisney jogging trails.
So, my mileage for this week:
Monday, February 19: 9 miles run (11 miles total)
Tuesday, February 20: 10 miles run (13 miles total)
Wednesday, February 21: 11 miles run (14 miles total)
Thursday, February 22: 4 miles run + weights and 100 burpees (6 miles total)
Friday, February 23: 6.5 miles run (11 miles total)
Saturday, February 24: 9.6 miles run (18 miles total) (Disney Princess 10K + 3.4 treadmill miles) (18 miles total)
Sunday, February 25: 13.4 run (26 miles total) (Disney Princess Half Marathon)
Total miles run: 63.5
Total miles: 99
On Sunday, I ran/walk the equivalent of a full marathon between the half marathon, walking to the start line/back to the resort and walking around Epcot after the race.
So today (Monday) I just did a little on the elliptical, weights and 100 burpees because the last time I ran the day after a race I got a stress fracture in my shin.
Next week my goal is 30 miles. This is half the distance I’ve run the past few weeks, but I need a rest day and I have a few commitments this week that will prevent me from getting in longer runs. I’m hoping I can ramp the distance back up the next week.
How did you do this week?
